These centers contribute to the hands-on learning that Steiner was set out to achieve. Interest center are not only a way for children to interact with materials, but with other students as well, widening the child’s sense of community before they are able to realize it. These centers are usually used to offer a way of learning that is more enjoyable for the children, however, these centers are not used to sugar-coat the learning (Duesnas, 2013). Rather than using the centers to sugar-coat, they are used more as a way for the children to become actively engaged. As reported by Duesnas (2013), it can frequently be difficult for teachers to educate students about unappealing subjects, but oftentimes, interest centers can help relieve the burden of trying to get the students to fully retain the information being taught.
Imagination and Social Interaction Social interaction is certainly a necessity in today’s world. In order to generate the perfect realm previously mentioned, people will need to be able to productively interact with one another. The best way to ensure that people in a certain society are able to work together, they must be taught young. Steiner’s theory offers opportunities for child to develop their imagination. This allows the children to be able to set up social scenarios and learn how to effectively respond to them, before being in the situation.
