These soldiers were prideful beings who felt they were above the prisoners. Suddenly it became okay to carry out inhumane acts because they had to show their dominance over them, they had to show that they were not weak. On the other hand, while these inhumane acts were occurring another group was silenced. The death of a man was left unspoken of due to a simple language barrier. Had there been a way to communicate what had happened to a victimized man, questions would have been brought up much sooner.
The soldiers were able to represent themselves as strong beings. Those who had no fear of consequences because what was being communicated to them emerged from a chain of command. A chain of command that could not be identified to a specific person or group. This lack of communication and uncertainty among groups shows that intercultural communication continues to lack a sense of influence on society. It diminishes when one becomes desensitized to certain activities. It too diminishes communication as a whole when groups of various backgrounds must worry about their own needs and lives. Because of these reasons, it is important for revelations such as the ones made in the film to continue to be made. Without them intercultural communication would not continue on, it could get lost and society would not be able to function properly. Without being aware of how other cultures work there would be far more misfortune in the world. It is important for people to be aware of what happens and for it to be communicated
