Items Needed for Task:
Insulin Vial
1 Syringe Needle
1 Small Alcohol Wipe
A Pair of Gloves
Sharps Container
Steps to Performing Task 1. Wash hands with soap and water. Make sure to thoroughly dry hands. See figure 1-1, 1-2
2. After washing hands and drying them put on a pair of gloves. See figure 2-1
3. Grab insulin vial out of fridge and roll between hands to mix the contents in the insulin vial. See figure 3-1
4. After mixing take off cap on insulin vial and clean rubber stopper of insulin vial with 1alcohol wipes. Wipe top three times. Make sure top is dried completely. …show more content…
Pull back stopper on syringe and measure out correct amount of insulin in syringe. See figure 8-1
Note: If bubbles occur tap side of syringe and push air out of top of syringe by pushing a little bit of the insulin back into vial. Then measure out correct amount again. See figure 8-2, 8-3
9. After measuring correct amount of insulin pull syringe out from rubber top of insulin vial. See figure 9-1
10. Put cap onto syringe needle if needed to, if not then give injection to patient. See figure 10-1, 10-2, 10-3
11. Throw away gloves and alcohol wipes onto waste disposal, make sure to dispose of syringe needle in sharps container. See figure 11-1, 11-2
12. Wash hands again with soap and water to finish the task of cleaning up after preparing an insulin injection. See figure …show more content…

5. Next grab syringe needle and take cap off of it. See figure 5-1, 5-2
CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH NEEDLE. SHARP AND STERILE
6. With cap off of syringe, pull back stopper and push back in to release air in needle. See figure 6-1, 6-2
7. After air is released put syringe needle into rubber top of insulin vial and tip vial upside down with syringe still inside. See figure 7-1,
