Hamlet is going through many problems in his life. “Hamlet sees the world as an unweeded garden”(1.3.139). He is very angry and depressed. He’s father dies and his mother’s sudden marriage. This causes him to realize what is his worth in life. When the ghost of king Hamlet appears he learns that Claudius is the one who killed his father. So he plans out to avenge him as he says, “How strange or odd some’er I bear myself (As I perchance hereafter shall think meet/To put an antic disposition on)” (1.5.190-193). He begins to start his plan by “faking” his insanity.
Act 2
Hamlet starts acting crazy like he said he was going to. Hamlet states that “At last, a little shaking of mine arm, and thrice his head thus waving up and down” (2.1.104-105). He want to act crazy to help view the way Claudius guilt and the way he would act. Hamlet made a plan to put on a play about Claudius killing his father to see if he feels any type of guilt. “Hum, I have heard that guilty creatures sitting at a play have, by the very cunning scene (2.2.617-619). So he is contemplates whether he should commit suicide through his soliloquy, “To be or not to be that is the question” (3.1.64). He realizes that killing himself is not the answer. Hamlet is so worried about Claudius and he mistakes Polonius for Claudius. He kills Polonius thinking that it was Claudius spying on him and her mother’s conversation.
