This details what Ms. Jones can expect from counseling and the confidentiality involved in the process. Ms. Jones was informed that while every effort will be made to keep the information she shares confidential, there are circumstances that would require me to breach…
During the first meeting the case manager, adhering to Standard 3 of the National Organization of Human Services (NOHS) ethical code, will thoroughly explain the client right to privacy and confidentiality as well as the limits of both (NOHS, 2015). In addition, discussion about the state’s legal limitations and expectations, as they relate to parental right to know, will occur. Covering these topics with the family is necessary because even though the entire family will take a role in Renee’s intervention she is the primary client, therefore it is essential to take steps that will protect her autonomy. Another point of concern centers on protection of client records. Since the intervention requires therapeutic counseling and coordination for evaluations with Renee’s school great care will be put forth to adhere to Standard 8 of the NOHS ethical code to” protect the integrity, safety, and security of client records.…
In brief, the professional counselor once licensed /certified must adhere to all code of ethics with fidelity. Confidentiality, the primary ethical issue and information shared is privileged communication between the client and the professional counselor. In most states, mandatory or permissive laws delegated for that particular state and noted when it comes to confidential information from client shared with the counselor. If danger or internment harm is of concerned and involves a third party or child/elderly abuse This may only happen if the professional counselor/service provider discloses information when internment harm comes into play for all parties concerned. It’s also important to protect self and the client, with risk by taking the necessary steps to prevent harm.…

We need to express to them that we will do everything in our power to keep what is said between us private. Confidentiality is both a legal and ethical duty of us as counselors to protect the information disclosed from our clients. There are a few circumstances in which we would be require to break confidentiality. It is important that we are clear on defining what these limitations are. A limitation to confidentiality is if the client mentions ongoing child or elderly abuse.…
The fifth CEC initial preparation standard is about instructional planning and strategies, which, like the fourth standard, is also under the focal theme: instructional pedagogy (Council for Exceptional Children, 2012). This standard requires initial-level special education teachers to learn to adapt and use instructional strategies, technology-based or not, according to students’ abilities, interests, learning environments, cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and IEP or transition plans in order to improve students’ learning. I believe that the courses, SPED 5365 Instructional Processes with Exceptional Children and SPED 5366 Modification of Curriculum and Instruction for the Atypical Learner meet this standard.…
There is a need to dispel pejorative myths of clinical work with African Americans (Boyd-Franklin, 2003). African Americans make up approximately 13.3% of America (U.S. Bureau of the Census, 2015). Moreover, in the United States, African Americans make up a distinct cultural group, in which there is an aggregate of diversity. Characteristics such as, socioeconomic status, level of education, religious affiliation, acculturation, and geographical origins, should collectively be considered in any discussion with black individuals so as to avoid stereotyping (Boyd-Franklin, 2003). Additionally, intricacies of African Americans with respect to skin color (dark skinned versus light skinned) are repeatedly ignored but need to be recognized.…
Herdman). Clients who have needs that go beyond the scope of the program are candidates for a referral. The counselor must have a client signed authorization to release information. This is a required documentation for counselor to communicate effectively with additional agencies pertaining to client needs. It’s not very often that a counselor will be able to meet all the needs of a substance abusing client, therefore the counselor must be aware of his/her limits.…
Therefore, during this internship I want to learn how and when to appropriately disclose for the therapeutic benefit of the client. Modeling or being an example to my clients may become part of my counseling style. By remaining upbeat, friendly, and engaging on a personal level, I should not only help my clients but strengthen the therapeutic relationship. I believe I will be able to help my clients because I have an ability to meet them at a common level, which helps me to refrain from casting moral judgement and getting annoyed or abrasive when a client relapses. I want to have the strength of a sponsor while the clinical skills of a therapist to aid the client in their personal growth and their development of healthy positive choices.…
“How to Construct a Conversation”; and Thurman, Chapter 2 “Fear.” In reading how to construct a conversation I learned that you need to follow a planned pattern set to be a successful counselor. By doing this you will be able to understand what it is the counselee is seeking in wanting to meet and/or talk. The first phase on constructing a conversation is the tone setting phase.…

Totally agree to certain things that should or not be shared with a client, and one’s personal life and income is infeasible to helping the client in their circumstances. Basically, it is the responsibility of the professional to set boundaries between the client and themselves, and trying to avoid unnecessary boundaries crossing. Many issues could arise from being overly personal with the client, and the professional would be in an unwanted type of relationship with the client. Certain things that should be taken in consideration when dealing with clients is legal, ethical, and what is moral in the best interest of the client. The professional not only should protect the client ‘s best interest, they must protect their best interest as well.…
The poem "Talking to Grief" by Denise Levertov is actually very funny at the start; for some reason, the fact that this person is talking to something that causes people so much pain is extremely funny to me. The poem has the person inviting grief into their home saying that they should have some water or somewhere warm for grief since it is always around. The thing about how I broke it down is that Levertov says that grief should be welcomed into the house just because it helps with the healing process when people really need it. She is also saying that grief is misunderstood and that people should treat it differently than treating it as something that cause problems and needs to be destroyed. Something that I thought that was interesting…
