Purpose Statement: The purpose of my speech is to inform my class of the life of J.K Rowling.
I. Introduction: Chances are you already know who J.K. Rowling is. Even if you don’t know of her, you probably know of her work. J.K Rowling is the very successful author of the Harry Potter series. But she wasn’t always so successful.
II. Body:
A. Rowling lived in poverty before Harry Potter
1. Rowling’s mother died in 1990, which inspired J.K.’s writing the most
2. She had a child with her Portuguese husband while living in Portugal
3. She later divorced her husband, was now jobless, and had a dependent

III. Conclusion: In summary, much like the protagonist of her series, J.K. Rowling went through many hardships before she was successful. You probably knew of her before, but now you know how Harry Potter really came to be.
Organizational Pattern used: I used a chronological pattern, because I go in order of events in her life. It was the best organizational pattern for my speech because it gave background on her series.
