Informative Essay On Coast Guard

The U.S Coast Guard is one of the fifth branches of the United States Military, and most people haven't a clue what they do. A couple of years ago, if someone would have asked me ‘what is the Coast Guard and what do they do’, I too would have no idea what to answer. Over the past few years, there is a family that I have grown very close with and the Coast Guard has played a huge part in their lives. The father was in the Coast Guard for 29 years and retired as a captain. Over those 29 years, the family moved about every 3 years all over the country. The Coast Guard has played a huge role in this families life, especially their oldest son, who is currently attending the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut. All throughout Trump’s campaign that was one problem he wanted to be fixed and has started trying to fix it, not well though. One of Trump’s main solutions for the Mexican immigrants coming in is a wall bordering the America-Mexico border so that illegal immigrants can not make it through the border. The problem for this wall is the funding for it. ”The Trump administration’s proposed budget will include a 14 percent cut in Coast Guard funding to help pay for a crackdown on illegal immigration” (Trump Budget). When the article says “crackdown on illegal immigration” it is talking about the immigration on the Mexico border. One of the most major jobs of the Coast Guard is to protect against illegal immigration. To have Trump say he’s going cut funds from the Coast Guard to fight against illegal immigrants is idiotic.“The goal is to shift about $5 billion toward hiring scores of additional agents for Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as well as toward infrastructure to support a crackdown on illegal immigration at the border. A significant portion of the money would go toward erecting a wall along the border with Mexico, one of President Trump’s signature campaign promises” (Fandos) It seems to me pretty foolish to spend more money on people who are to protect our borders when we already have 50,000 plus active personnel in the Coast Guard who already do that exact thing. “In the 2016 fiscal year alone, it intercepted more than 6,000 undocumented immigrants” (Fandos). Trump should be astounded with this numbers, not wanting to cut from them. Without these men and women and their dedication to our country, we’d have a lot more illegal immigrants in our country and along with

In an interview, Donald John Trump, an American businessperson and a Republican candidate running for president, specified: “ The immigrants are bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, and they’re rapists. It’s coming from the south and Latin America and it’s coming, probably, from the Middle East, but we don’t know because we have no protection.” As a result of the immigrants coming into America, Trump wants to create the immigration plan. If Trump’s plan is carried out, the Mexicans would be unauthorized to enter America because of the “great great wall,” possible recessions and riots would take place, and all illegal immigrants including the birthright citizens will be forced to leave America.…
