Have you ever desired something so much you would do everything to earn it? Have you ever had to convince someone to grant you something? How far did you have to go to convince them? Early on throughout my childhood their has been one thing I have wanted, a pet, new family member, a dog. My sister and I both wanted a dog, but my parents on the other hand did not. We made tiny PowerPoints or a list of reasons why we should buy a puppy. I used my persistence and determination to overcome my challenge of convincing my parents to purchase a dog.
Ever since I was younger I have adored dogs. Whenever we drove to the park as a family, my sister, Carolina, and I would see a dog and ask my parents, "Can we get a dog?"

For instance, the most popular and repeated excuse was we don’t have time for a pet. Other excuses were, where is the dog staying when we go on vacation or how are you going to mange your homework and training the dog. To prove them wrong I participated in more after school activities. Eventually, one day in February of 2015, my parents, after several years, told us that in March we can start searching for a dog. At that moment I was a rollercoaster of emotions. At first I thought they were lying, until I overheard them discussing details about the puppy. The news took me by …show more content…
Two months have passed and still no dog is found. May comes around, and on Mother's Day when we came back from dinner, I go on this website that is selling puppy Bichons. I showed my mom instantly, and I begged to go right away.
My mom explained, "We can go check them out, but we are not buying one today."
"Thank you so much!!" I responded, but my sister and I knew that we could easily convince them to purchase a puppy. When we arrived at the dog store, I was filled with joy because I knew that it was finally the day. As I entered the store I saw a little, white, fluffy puppy that I knew would be mine. We chose the youngest one out of the five that we saw, which was a girl. My sister was holding the soft puppy that looked like a cozy blanket. I saw my dad approach other dogs.
"How about these dogs over here?" He mentioned.
"No! We want this one." Carolina and I argued. We continued repeating ourselves until my mom placed a deposit on the dog, so the next day we can come and pick the dog up. The next day was a Monday, and right after school we drove to the store to pick the puppy up. My sister and I both agreed to name her Lyla. After a few weeks it felt like we've always had her with us. I could not explain how excited I

Three year old girls are typically pretty easy to please. Baby animals and junk food normally find themselves at the top of a soon-to-be three year old girl’s birthday wishlist. I just so happened to be one of the lucky few to actually get a puppy on my third birthday, an eight week old blue merle Australian Cattle Dog who was extremely sweet and very oversized for his breed. When my parents and I got home from picking up my puppy, they asked me what should have been a fairly simple question, “What are you going to name him?” As a young girl who was receiving her very first puppy, I took this question very seriously.…

When I was ten years of in the summer of 2008, my Mom, Dad, brother, and I all drove to a farm out in the middle of nowhere to check out some puppies we saw on craigslist. When we arrived, I saw a grassy field with 5 dogs on it, and trees covering the perimeter. The dad of all the puppies was watching over like an ancient guardian, he was pretty intense, he was a massive brown Labrador, that didn’t move around much because of his old age; the farmer that owned them told me that the dad was 12. Not wanting my eventual dog in the first place, I remember that I didn’t think that he was hyper enough, and I wanted a puppy that would keep up with me. Mine, or anyone else's opinion did not matter in the situation though, Mom wanted that particular…

On the windy lukewarm night of October 13, 2012, my life changed in a positive way. That day was the day I got my first dog, a female Shih Tzu, and I remember that day vividly. It all started as soon as I woke up with crazy bed hair, and I had a feeling that something would happen. After I woke up, I got dressed, had a nutritious breakfast, and went off to school. That Wednesday was a very stressful day due to the many things I had to do, which were to write an essay for English, a group history project, and a new lesson in Algebra 1.…
