Improper management of healthcare professionals, clinical workflow processes, and information systems often lead to medical errors. Disclosure of medical errors to patients and family members serves as a substance for lawsuit and thus, the establishment of appropriate social and ethical morals cannot be ignored when implementing solutions to remedy this situation. Social and ethical issues that challenge the health care system as a result of medical errors need to be addressed. There is a general agreement between patient and provider, avoiding medical errors requires the establishment and management of compliance-based and values-based ethic. Whereas the compliance-based ethical environment describes ethical policies that focus on rules, monitoring employee behaviour, and punishing ethical misconduct; the values-based ethical environment describes ethical policies that focuses on employee’s commitment to values and social responsibility.
