Bates attempts to explain something similar to this where she says, “… Dress codes cite the importance of a ‘distraction free’ learning environment...” Bates, in return, shows a fallacy in the next statement she presents which includes her belief that because a few of the schools questioned, she tries to imply that all school’s dress codes are similar. The hasty generalization Bates implies when mentioning this statement, and then trying to imply that on all schools, may show that she has a straight forward and bias generalization on the topic. The common goals needing to be reached between the genders could not be achieved if both people cannot stay focused during the project or task at hand. Bates’s articles reveal her stating, “The problem is often compounded by a lack of any attempt to discipline boys for harassing behavior, which drives home the message that it is the victim’s responsibility to prevent.” The comment made by Bates shows everyone that although the male’s lack of discipline and behavior, the victim still has a responsibility in which they should prevent the situation from progressing. In return, both people could stay on task and therefore reaching their common goals, but this could not be done with male harassment and irresponsible behavior which could be hard to stand up to by some
