The second week after his arrival, Himat started his education at the orphanage. The teacher was orphanage master who had much on his to-do list. Being very busy and having many kids to teach individually, the teacher spent more time on the illiterate students. The teacher taught her kids this way because these illiterate kids would struggle learning anything else in the class or on their own for that matter. Nor did these kids have parents teach them how to read and write. Himat’s parents lived long enough to drill these reading and writing skills into him, so he wanted some challenging material.
