Water footprint measure amount of water we uses in our daily life for our goods and services that we use. Water footprint also give us information about how much water being used in specific country or around the world by a river basin or aquifer. Moreover, the water footprint is measure in different units depending on where it’s been used. For example, ton of production can be measure in per cubic meter, cropland water being measure in hectare, currency being measure in per unit and in further functional units. Water footprint has been divided in three component based on where water is located, blue water for water in river, seas and ocean, green water for moisture present in soil and ground after rainfall and grey water for household wastewater. Moreover we consume water in two ways, direct water and indirect water footprint. Water being used directly by an individual known as direct water and water being used by all the product we consumed known as indirect water footprint. The Water Footprint is really important globally since it’s network and its partners try to advance it over the period and utilize the Water Footprint to help the environment to maintain and justifiable the use of water. The water footprint demonstrates us allowance of the world’s limited freshwater resources and hence it offer us a source for considering the effects of goods …show more content…
S. A, I got 29 total greenhouse gas emission. I have four people living in the house so I count my carbon footprint according to four people. When I compare four people average tons of carbon dioxide eq/year for U.S. national average is 110. My estimated greenhouse gas emission is way below the U.S. national average. This means I and my family emits less CO₂ compare to a family living in U.S.A. However, we still need to decrease our home energy compare to U.S. A. Average. U.S.A. family uses 36.8% home energy but my family and I uses 51.6% home energy. It’s almost 15% more than average American. I should definitely take steps to heat and cool unit for our home efficiency, we should also installed efficient lighting in our home, should use energy star electronics, unplug the equipment not in use and take some steps to cut energy used for hot water. Other than home energy, we have less percentage for driving & fighting, and food & diet. This will consider as my contribution to carbon footprint since we don’t drive more than 25 miles a day and we are vegetarian which help to emit less gas to the greenhouse. We have to be more careful for recycling and waste to decrease the percentage than an American family has. The world average for four people is 22 tons of CO₂ eq/year. When I compare my average to globally, it is bit higher than the world average but also it is much closer to the world average compare to U.S.
