Ghana experiences 950,000 annual international visitors and is expected to grow to 1.5 million by 2024 (“Tourism in Ghana”). In 1997, tourism accounted for 12.6 % of Africa’s gross domestic product (GDP) and 13 million jobs (Appiah, 1857). In 2013, tourism contributed US$1.34 billion, representing 2.8% of Ghana’s GDP (“Tourism in Ghana”). The tourism industry is a major source of foreign exchange and revenue with international tourist receipts of US$1,068 in 2013 and creating 24,000 Ghanaian jobs (“Tourism in Ghana”). Ghana offers a wide range of hotel accommodations, varying from cosmopolitan elegant resorts, quaint country hotels, to eco-friendly park lodges.
