Consider the importance of a school behaviour policy. How must a teacher behave in order to maintain order in a classroom? Remember when writing that:“Behaviour for Learning or Positive Classroom Management is about engagement of pupils in the learning process.”
“The teacher’s authority needs to be based on effective teaching rather on coercion. This is not to say that to say that disciplinary techniques are not important in establishing authority. Rather, it is to stress that if the exercise of disciplinary techniques is to control problems arising from poor teaching, such problems will persist and undermine the quality of learning which will occur.” (Kyriacou 2001:102)
DEFINE CLASSROOM ENVIRON.
It is vital to maintain a positive classroom environment while teaching to ensure that pupils are learning and achieving their goals.
The positive approach is based on being:
