Importance Of Personal Motivation

Motivation is something that I feel our group does well however. Both as an individual and, myself as a part of the group uses many motivational tactics to ensure that we stay motivated and actually get work done. Sometimes it’s a bit disheartening to push aside a project we have been working on for a while and pivot into a new direction, however, we normally bounce back from this pretty quick and ensure we have the motivation to continue on the new project. I keep myself motivated because it’s my company, and I really do find we have a sense of meaningfulness. A sense of choice is given because each person has the choice of how they want to do their part of the game., a sense of competence and a sense of progress are both given by using checks, balances and meeting back up to discuss progress and direction. I feel I do my part of all of this and keep the team working like a well-oiled machine when it comes to motivation. When it comes to conversation analysis there are parts I feel I do well, and parts I feel that I really do need to work on. To deduce which parts I do well and which parts I need work on, let’s take a look at the different key elements of conversation analysis that were brought up earlier. Turn organization, is how a group determines who gets the next speaking terms. In Subwolfer Studios, we allow members to self-select who goes next. While this works for the group as a whole, I will say many times I personally have something to say, but I’m not always the fastest to start speaking and as a result, many times things I’ve wanted to say have gone unsaid. Because we have a small enough group, sometimes there are ways to loop back around to the topic and bring it back up later so this isn’t really that big of an issue for the group as a whole. When people need longer terms, most of the time the group is quiet and will allow the speaker to extend their turn, for example, when Ryan attempts to explain a storyline, he normally would be given the opportunity to explain it all without interruption. This can happen when we are discussing the best way to program or in almost any other time when it’s required for the speaker to extend their turn to get their full point across. When I am the storyteller, I tend to acknowledge when I’m done by asking a follow up question such as “So, does that sound good?” and when I’m the listener I attempt to keep eye contact and nod my head as a nonverbal que that I’m listening. Lastly, when it comes to ways of changing topics, we do use a lot of segues but the group is just as guilty of “Oh Shiny/Pretty’s”. Not just the group, but I, myself have changed conversations quite a few times on accident by focusing on something in the environment. An example would be, Ryan may be going over some storyline while I’m listening and idly looking up graphics on my phone that are available for purchase. Then when I come …show more content…
Because there are shortcoming however, I feel that it would be important to identify them and work out a plan of action on how to correct them. First up, with a self-selection group, I tend to be a slow starter. This is something I do need to work on. Although, in Subwolfer Studios it’s not much of a problem, it is a problem sometimes in other groups and sometimes I allow myself to get passed up and don’t have the opportunity to put in my own opinions. So, in an attempt to correct this, I need to really start attempting to speak up quicker and not wait to the point where I miss my turn to speak. Secondly, I do need to work on ensuring that when I speak in a group I am not using abstract words, or otherwise phrasing things so that the other group members and I will end up bypassing each other on meanings. There are angles that I really want to approach this from. First off, I want to be sure I’m using concrete terms that all have a definite meaning, and secondly I want to make sure when other members of my group us abstract terms, I’m questioning them on what they mean so we can all remain on the same

Personal Intrinsic Motivators When intrinsic motivation is present, it can have a strong influence on an individual’s behaviour. In healthcare, this gives rise to individuals who are dedicated and passionate about their work. Manion (2011) identified five intrinsic motivators that influence professional behaviour: “healthy relationships, meaningful purpose, competence, choice and progress” (p. 297) and in this instance, all five were present. Workplace engagement is in place when the presence of these factors serves to stimulate and inspire individuals to achieve happiness in their professional lives.…

On November 9th, Erin and I co-facilitated a group discussion around trauma-informed practice as part of our Group Facilitation assignment as second-year nursing students. The process consisted of choosing a peer-reviewed article related to trauma-informed practice, then creating a Facilitation Plan around the article and relevant course theory, and finally facilitating a group discussion. As the next step towards the development of our group facilitation skills, we were assigned to write a critical reflection about the experience of facilitating a group discussion. Through this paper I provided a summary of our group facilitation experience, explored group dynamics, what I perceived as our strengths and challenges, what I have learned from…

Drive for the Future I never knew how many drives for motivation there was and how some even have a negative effect of people. Daniel Pink describes Motivation 3.0 as giving people the opportunity to extend their creativity so that it increases the way they perform. Motivation 3.0 will come into my future career since I know how to incorporate it so that it benefits me in the future. I am aware on how some job forces do still use the carrot and sticks method, but I know that I can use what I have learned from Daniel Pink and use it to benefit both myself and whatever it is I work for.…

According to Lamberton and Minor (2014) self-motivation is essential to the idea of self-direction, which is the ability to set short-term and long-term goals. Both short-term goals and long-term goals are important in life to become successful. I have set certain goals I would like to accomplish in my lifetime; some of these goals are personal while others are professional. A few of my professional goals for the future are to finish my Bachelor’s degree in nursing, find a nursing job in an ambulatory surgery unit, and eventually, apply for a Master’s degree to become a nurse practitioner.…

My ultimate goal in life has always been to be successful - to be happy with the career I choose, and to be able to make a living off of it. I 've always know, at least halfway, that I would have to work very hard to accomplish that goal, that promising futures are most often built off of how you conduct yourself in school. However, it 's really difficult to see how your future will pan out when you 're a high school freshman with no idea what you want to do, and despite your every effort, can 't seem to make yourself finish the simplist of homework assignments. Up until the ninth grade, I was able to get by on procrastination. The middle school I went to really wanted the students to believe we were being prepared for high school.…

Richardson (1994, p. 5) concludes his study by making the observation that “... mature students were rather more likely than younger students to adopt a deep approach or a meaning orientation towards their academic work, and .... were conversely less likely than younger students to adopt a surface approach or a reproducing orientation.” Other determinants of academic performance not discussed above include self-motivation, family income, and parents’ level of education. While a positive relationship between self-motivation and academic performance has been established (Zimmerman, Bandura, & Martinez-Pons, 1992), the effect of family income and parents’ level of education on academic performance is far from being unravelled without equivocation. Socioeconomic status of students and their families show moderate to strong relationship with academic performance (Sirin, 2005) but these relationships are contingent upon a number of factors such that it is nearly impossible to predict academic performance using socioeconomic status. Methodology and methods…

Motivation is used to affect the behavior of the projects team members to achieve a projects goal and objective. On one of the projects I have worked, the projects team members were motivated on the premises of autonomy or intrinsic factors. Autonomy is motivation through self-direction. As to intrinsic motivation factors, motivation comes from within a person through the results of the work itself. The reason intrinsic factors or autonomy motivation was the best influence in this project was the team was developing performance requirement (Lussier & Achua, 2013).…
