Introduction.
Light microscope is an instrument which used to magnify small specimen which cannot be seen through naked eye, by using a light source. It helps to magnify the small object to 1000* times than the real size of the real object.
In light microscope light ray is send and it travel as a beam through the specimen and then through the lenses finally producing a magnified image. But this mage is inverted. If it’s necessary to erect we have to use another extra lens. To get a clear image we have to use a thin specimen which allows light beam to travel through it. …show more content…
How to clean light microscope.
Live specimens are used in light microscope, therefore they contaminate with the light microscope. So to maintain the microscope it has to clean if we use it to observe more than 50 times a day.
Steps to clean the microscope.
1. Remove the objective lenses and clean inner and outer parts of them with a brush in order to remove the dust particles.
2. Repeat it to the other optical parts such as condenser and eyepiece.
3. Oil can be remove with a tissue paper or medical grade cotton wool.
4. At last optical surfaces should clean with 80% petroleum ether or 20% 2-propanol.
5. If there’s heavy contamination they can be removed by soap water.
6. Oils can be remove by using above mention solutions.
7. The instrumental part should be clean with water and ethanol. Here we use 50:50 mixture of 95% ethanol and water.
8. The other parts such as rough adjustment, fine adjustment, mechanical stage…etc. should be clean apply lubricating substance in order to make them work easily.
Maintaining the microscope.
• Never gab the microscope with any other part of microscope when carrying, other than from the arm of
