These facial expressions are the universal ones, like smiling while happy. If a person is angry they sometimes run into the forest to show they are mad and doesn’t want to get angrier. If a person would like to show their overjoy they may prance around in a circle. When a couple decides to start a family the man will grow out his facial hair while the women will wear a special necklace. When we burry someone so they can give back to the earth we plant a unique tree to mark where they where buried. Its acceptable for a person to make their hand into a W shape to ask the question, what? Also after the outsiders tried to push us out, making you hands into a gun shows anger towards someone. Also if one man is greeting another they might slapping him on the knee and women might put their hands on each others shoulders. Generally we don’t each other eye to eye unless were paying close attention. Since we live in tight nit communities we feel comfortable being physically close to some another. Sticking ones tongue out at someone is a way of showing attraction towards that person. If a person so chooses they can pierce their boy where ever they like. Before the getting started I knew that language reflected culture like with the amount of words in a semantic domain. This helped me look closer at things like phrases a culture creates like the “time is money” phrase. Before I never would have looked deeper into the meaning of the phrase and thought about how it reflects a culture of people trying to get stuff done. Also I now have a more in-depth knowledge of how languages change. It helped me understand the factors that go into language change. Like how kids help drive language change. Before I didn’t know that a new word is enough to call it a change in language. Its like the gears in a watch, I now have a better understanding of the role those gears play like all of the factors that influence language and culture. After this project I now understand how important of a role the environment plays on language. Also how much the environment influences culture, its like the environment influences culture and language at the same time. Also nonverbal communication is important to understanding ones culture. In part C I said that my culture only looking someone in the eyes when they are paying full attention. One can conclude that they multi task often. If they are paying attention to what someone is saying but looking around then they are also thinking about something else at the same time or keeping an eye on something. This project
