His first thought about her are, “I got a new friend, all right. But what a gamble friendship is! Charlotte is fierce, brutal, scheming, bloodthirsty- everything I don’t like. How can I learn to like her, even though she is pretty and, of course, clever?” (White, 1952) Wilbur is unsure of the spider but in time he will understand that Charlotte has a kind heart and was a loyal friend until the end. Wilbur starts to like Charlotte so much that he wants to be like her. He even ties a string to his tail and tries to spin a web like his spider friend does.
