I cannot even begin to describe the struggles that we went through as immigrants, in a strange country, with a different language and culture. I enrolled in High school immediately, and found out that I was able to obtain college classes through a program specially designed for students in High School. As I started in this dual enrolment program, on an effort to help the family, I started working full time. I went to high school in the morning, then I went to college at night, and during the weekend I would work 40 hours. I had no time left for myself, and barely any to sleep.
I finished High School and my Associate Degree almost at the same time. Almost immediately I enrolled in the Biology B.A program at St Thomas University. Regrettably, because of my work load I was not able to keep up with the studying, so I decided to change majors into business, although I did finish with a minor in biological sciences.
