In the late 1800s, at the turn of the century, the United States experienced an influx of immigrants due to the industrialization occurring in large cities and states all over the country. However since the mid 1900s there was another rise in immigration, this time from the south. One of the large disadvantages of being a new immigrant is the lack of integration, not only that but immigrants face challenges every day. Apart from language skills, Immigrants in the United States face the loss of their cultural identity when they integrate into the mainstream society, and if they don’t, they may be subject to discrimination. This loss of identity then fuels various misconceptions of immigrants.…

Immigration can have several meanings to different people. For one immigrant, it was a representation of a new life. Natasha Johnson immigrated to the small town of Andover, Iowa from Kiev, Ukraine. Natasha traveled to Iowa with her daughter 12 years ago (Johnson, 2015). Since the day she first stepped foot in the United States, she has continually been adjusting, learning, and overcoming challenges.…

The topic of discussion in the political agenda from the late 1980s in France has been “immigrant integration” even though the issue became hot in matters of the suppression of minority women from the early 2000s. (Morgan Kimberly 2017)The article written by Kimberly discusses the development of immigrant integration for more than two decades, showing the time and reasons for the debates on integration taking a gendered cast and focusing the discussion on two factors; the developing threat of the Front National together with the validation of gender-centered claims of politics in France. (Morgan Kimberly 2017)The conservative political figures fighting to implement strict measures towards immigration embraced these claims. (Morgan Kimberly…
Immigration is a contemporary problem that I would address given a chance. The reason for this is the fact that the world is currently grappling with what to do with immigrants and no one seems to understand the plight of these immigrants. Traveling miles and miles from their native homes to countries in Europe and America, these people have endured inhumane conditions in their traveling ventures and yet, our countries seem not to be welcoming. It is a rather unfortunate incident and it needs to be addressed in the soonest time possible, so as to avoid these continued deaths that we are witnessing on our sea shores.…
I think to overcome the problems discussed above, for every place in the US where there are immigrants, there must be health professionals or nutritional professionals who can help in raising awareness in nutrition education and providing good lessons in schools and/or in various immigrant communities so that they will be able to choose healthy foods. Moreover, the immigrants need to consult with their doctors from the beginning to check what food is doing to their bodies and if it is good to continue eating the same foods here in the United States. If necessary, they should develop their meal plans by consulting with their doctor or dietitian and reducing high carb foods and replacing with low carb foods. Furthermore, my own personal experiences…

Immigration is moving from one’s own country of birth to settle to another country where one can live, work or attend school. It can be done due to furthering education, in search of green pastures or even change of climate. Immigration can have an added advantage like opening new opportunities for people, but at the same time it can bring a lot of challenges like un employment, poverty, homelessness, abuse, sickness and many others. The challenges are considered as obstacles which are often faced by the immigrant community but can be overcome by trying different methods. These may include and not limited to applying for financial aids so that one can enroll in school whereby they can work extremely hard and maintain good grades.…
Immigration is one of the biggest challenges the world is facing today especially Europe and North America. Although both legal and illegal immigrants are pouring to the US, most of those who are coming to Europe and getting there through the dangerous journey of the Mediterranean sea. As you have also mentioned, these immigrants are raising fears among nationals who think their countries and jobs are being overtaken. This has helped the Brexit, the UK withdrawal from the European Union succeeded. It is also why Donal Trump is still very close or tie with Hillary Clinton in national polls despite the many absurd things he has said, and how childish he seems to be.…
Coming from parents who have no background knowledge of what it is to go college or the steps I have to take, it is my responsibility to find the necessary help to achieve and get a better understanding of that life. My parents who only attended a third grade education face a lot of challenges that I certainly as well face because of my immigration status. I face similar circumstances and live with the fear of being deported simply because I live here as an immigrant. My parents do encourage me to pursue higher education but it is difficult if I will face similar circumstances as I have in high school. At home I still face problems when it comes to studying since that we share an apartment with two other people aside from my parents and my…
• Children of immigrants struggle more than their parents do with discrimination (Wu, Z., & Schimmele, C. P 14) • The school situation can encourage an atmosphere in which bad behaviurs can have psycologycal effects such as bullying and oppression (Abada, et al., 2008; Zeman & Bresssan, 2006) . • There is a continuous issue in which Canadian high school are facing which includes physical and emotional aggression (Abada, et al., 2008; Zeman & Bresssan, 2006). • Discrimination can be revealed by behaviours such as physical assaults, verbal aggressions and social isolation inspired by individual’s immigrant status (Lee & Koro-Ljungberg, 2007; Liang, Grossman, & DeGuchi, 2007).…
