Ikea is a worldwide company which designs and sells the kitchen appliances and home accessories which provides ready to assemble furniture since 1943 in Sweden. In the UK, it moved in 1987. It had a Scandinavian design which was not accepted by many customers at first. It gradually changed its approach and the graph had increased until now. Not only this but the descent of the car ownership also affected them greatly. It has dropped from 75 percent to 66 percent as there has been an increase in the cost of the insurance. Ikea’s motto is “We do half, you do half, and together we save money” is one of the reasons for the decline as the customers now want to ‘save money and time’. Ikea then hired some of the workers from TaskRabbit as the customers were willing to pay someone who assembles their furniture. The company is still facing challenges to cope up with the rapidly changing environment. Mrs. Drakeford, Ikea UK’s head stated that “2018 will be a year of catch-up for Ikea in the UK.”

Cognition, why should I change? Should recognize the changes and decide what will benefit the organization as well. Emotion, what is in it for me? The manger should know how to deal with the reactions to loss and should create a willingness to succeed. Capability, what can I do differently? The manager should motivate themselves and then everyone else in the company. One should break the conventional mind set and succeed. Further, Kotter explains 8 step processes to manage a change. Most of the organizations should follow the eight fundamental steps given by Kotter for a successful change. Mrs. Drakeford says,”We have better delivery prices, better time slots, we can now roll out click and collect, really bringing us up to speed with many of the other services that other retailers provide” and this is her vision for the upcoming
