Objective of the identification of a pure substance lab is to identify a substance, such as boiling point and density. My partner and I used boiling, and density to identify the substance. By boiling the substance in hot water, we could find an average boiling point. Then, by measuring mass, volume, and density of the substance, we could come to a conclusion. The unknown substance is cyclohexane. Our measurements did not match the information in the table given 100%. The first time we completed the experiment we were nowhere near the correct answer. By redoing the experiment, we got a better estimation as to what the substance could be. Instead of .78 for density, we got .74, and instead of the boiling point being 81°C, we got 80°C period.
