After a bout with cancer left me without the ability to verbally communicate for six months, I personally found value in silence and effective listening. I was forced to be creative in ways to communicate, further understanding the frustrations that individuals that feel unheard, albeit due to their lack of ability to effectively communicate their thoughts and ideas, or another’s inability to listen or comprehend what is being said. In addition to applying my experience and education to my career in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, I have discovered a new ambition; as I now aspire to teach psychology. I have had so many influential professors that have encouraged and inspired me while traversing college beginning the same year as my high school
