They were able to forecast its movements and removed people from the most dangerous areas(Sherrow). With the National Weather Service spotting it early they saved many lives and the risk of more damage being made. The most simple things in nature cause so much outrage. Everyone was ready and waiting. On August 22th , 1992, there was no doubt the National Hurricane Center classified it as a hurricane and warned people it was heading towards Florida(Sherrow). People living in Florida were prepared and ready. On August 22th, the storm fist reached category 5 and winds were above 155 miles per hour.(World Book). Andrew swept through ruining houses on the way. Andrew moved on and now was headed to it's next destination. “During the afternoon of August 23th , Andrew crossed over the north end of the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas and generated significant storm surge flooding”(Preliminary Report Hurricane Andrew 16-28th, 1992).There is way more to come then some flooding, Andrew is ready to come hard. Now Andrew was on it's way to make the most disturbance yet. On August 24th, Andrew made landfall near homestead, Florida and winds were getting stronger. For four hours it continued across southern Florida. About 25,000 homes were completely destroyed(World Book). Florida was hit the hardest and it lasted quite a long time. The destruction was almost over but still had little ways to go. After leaving Florida, the storm moved to the Gulf of Mexico. Early on August 26th, it made a second landfall in southeastern Louisiana.(World Book).
