One basic human desire is that of curiosity. Since the day mankind was created people have been exploring in an endless effort to learn more about the world and learn more about themselves. This exploration is an attempt to gain an understanding of the personal condition that is an important part in the human life. Oedipus the King journeys through the self-exploration of Oedipus to discover the human condition of Oedipus and through the discovery of that human condition, new conditions are discovered in the lives of other characters. Oedipus spends his time in Thebes striving to obtain truth. At first he is trying to obtain physical truth about a murder but as the play progresses Oedipus begins to search inward for his own human condition. Oedipus believes that if he can identify his own condition then it will provide him with an understanding of the lives of the people he interacts with because human condition does not come entirely from within. All of humanity is born with two arms but so are chimpanzees. The human condition is much more complicated than the inherent parts of humanity. The human condition is the emotions that humans not only feel for themselves but also the emotions that are felt for and with others. It is a growing organism that feeds of off human interaction. It is the collection of dreams and fears that are in every single person. Overall, the human condition is the links of humanity. It is the inherent condition that every human has in common. So no matter how different we are, whether we are a father who was sent off to war and has been absent for 20 years or a man tortured by destiny; raised to kill his own father and sleep with his mother. No matter how different or how crazy life becomes the human condition gives people a connection to community. People can examine their own lives and find specific instances where they had experienced the exact same feeling felt by another person. They felt the same pain after their father died, they felt the sexual appeal from a certain woman, the felt the joy of love at first sight, or the healing of scars.
