Huckleberry Finn: A Fictional Narrative

Finn had ransacked each town he came across, but he never found anything magnificent. He found less and less in each town. Finn knew if he didn’t find something to ease the grumbling of his stomach, he was going to die.
Finn and the hound had traveled at least two miles when the sun started to sink below the trees. Finn pulled out his thermometer to see if the temperature had changed. His eyes had to focus on the tiny numbers for a minute before he read “negative seventeen” out loud. Finn knew he why he couldn’t feel his toes anymore. They were frostbitten and turning blue.
He decided he wasn’t going to stop and try to build a fire that night. He wanted to get to wherever this dog had been staying to be in this good of condition. As Finn drug his feet through the ice he began to lose all hope. He was so cold that he thought his teeth were going to break from chattering and clanking together.

He started to run with the last bit of hope left in his soul. The mut got very excited and started barking and jumping around Finn. There was a gate fifteen feet ahead of him with a torch hanging from the brick column. Three men stepped out from behind the gate with spears pointed at Finn.
“Bear, come now,” a deep raspy voice commanded. “And who are you?” echoed the same man.
“My name is Finn,” he jolted back.
“What do you think you’re doing with our dog?” asked another one of the men.
“He found me a few miles south and I decided to follow him to see how he is managing to survive in this bitter world,” muttered Finn.
“You think you were just going to walk into our town with a warm welcome?” shouted the first

I, myself, believe that I share personal experience with the main character Huckleberry Finn. Throughout the story Finn adores his freedom, and I myself display similar behavior. When Huckleberry Finn escapes is alcoholic father, he himself displays a unique behavior of praising and valuing his earned freedom. Although he's a character from a story, I myself am encouraged by the remarkable reaction Huckleberry Finn seems to acquire after he received his freedom. He was isolating in a painful and emotional environment while he was with his father.…

When talking about who Huckleberry Finn is, it is important to include the different pieces and parts that add up to who he is as a whole. This novel was unique to others that I have read because of the first-person point of view. It gave the reader an insight into what Huck was thinking rather than just guessing characteristics from his actions. From his thoughts and actions Huck’s personality circled around his immaturity, morality, and the idea that he doesn’t fit into the time period. From the beginning to the end of the novel Huckleberry’s immaturity was noticeable.…

More importantly, this short story reflects what London learned in the Yukon Territory. The story started off as an unnamed man leaves the Yukon Trail at an extremely cold winter morning and hoped to rejoin his associates at a mining camp later that evening, where a nice fire and tasty bacon are awaiting him. The only companion the man has along the way was a large native husky dog, which was described to be more like a wolf. This husky was reluctant to travel with the man in the extreme cold weather, but decided to follow the man and hoped that he will make frequent stops to make a warm fire to keep them both warm. The hike was described to be at least nine hours.…

I just got done with my shift to protect Camp Half-Blood feeling very tired and stressed. With the camp’s protection being down and most of the campers going back to their families for the summer, this meant that there were very few of us to guard our safe haven. Not to mention I was still recovering from my broken ankle. I decided to take a walk down to the beach near the camp. Lately, I’ve found the sound of crashing waves, wind brushing through my hair, and the slight smell of salt hitting my face very soothing ever since I had met my best friend, Percy Jackson.…

Unfolding before the reader is a small but telling glimpse into the unyielding and ultimately fatal thought process of a man who considers gratitude to any other soul a bothersome task. In "To Buid a Fire" (London), the author begins to illuminate the excentricities of a man set on a path, destined to encounter his own mortality. "It was a steep bank, and he paused to breath at the top, excusing the act to himself by looking at his watch" (London p 114). This is the mindset of one who continually denies and or diregards any failings or misjudgements, Surveying the vast expanse of the ominous and ever increasing drifts of snow, set in his ways, he refuses to allow himself to consider the eminent vulnerability and fragility of his present situation.…

It was with considerable ease that I was able to procure the logs that were to fuel the extinction of my being. Nevertheless, it was increasingly cumbersome to travel miles from the forest that resides in this implacable tundra to the edge of the frigid ocean, which was decided to become the site of my immolation. This round trip back would be the last. My sledge dogs, born with a predisposition to run, were showing signs of lethargy and inanition. I ceased their movement, unable to bear their suffering and released them from their harnesses.…
