The Huck is showing sympathy toward Jim. However Huck is easily influenced by the society, Tom is Huck mischievous friend who has influence over Huck.When Huck realizes his trick was a mean one, he says, “It was fifteen minutes before I could work myself up to go and humble myself to a nigger; but I done it, and I warn't ever sorry for it afterwards, neither. Than he ends up with apologizing to Jim and this shows it is very impressive for Huck because be pre-civil white people are refusing to apologize to black people. This shows Twain doesn’t think black people are inferior if he thinks black people are inferior than Huck would never ask for forgiveness. When Tom and Huck finds out that the king and the duke are in town to perform and that Jim has warned the townspeople that the upcoming show is a fraud and Huck tried to save them, but he fails and he says, “Well, it made me sick to see it; and I was sorry for them poor pitiful rascals, it seemed like I couldn’t ever feel any hardness against them anymore in the world. It was a dreadful thing to see. Human beings can be awful cruel to one another”(Twain, p.232). This conveys that Jim is able to save townspeople from the King and Duke.
