I remember the late night gluing, cutting, and other preparation for her class. She would come home exhausted from work. Yet, despite the challenges, her stress would alleviate when she would proudly recall a student understanding a concept in her class; whether it was the alphabet or mathematics. Thus, I strove to emulate her through various volunteer work, like an art and crafts teacher for a Vacation Bible School, a tutor in my town, a mentor in a high school, and among others. Through these positions, I persisted to encourage children to do their best and as an aspiring teacher, I hope to instill this virtue in my potential students. I want my students to have their very own eureka moment.
Furthermore, I believe I can offer leadership, communication and problem-solving skills. My background includes consistent volunteer work during high school and after my graduation. I am accustomed to organizing events, group activities, and handling unique situations. Also, I am currently pursuing a major in secondary education and history under NJCU’s Honors which has already put me on the path to working with children.
