Since my mom did marathons, I took up long distance running in track. Long distance training set up my foundation for how I run. All the early morning practices running long miles, pushing myself to my limit, really raised my endurance and tolerance level for getting tired. As I gained more experience and confidence in my running ability, I started to win notable races, such as my high schools districts, which started to open the door to having a future in running. There was talk of me running in college, however no coach wanted to take me in just yet with the current times I had. With my senior track year coming up, my dad suggested I switch to mid distance races to catch coach's eyes. With my endurance from running long distance for so long, and my speed from all the previous sports I played, mid- distance fit me perfectly, and I soon started to gain colleges attentions with my races. That one decision to run track, which seemed insignificant at the time, paved the way for me to run in college. Not only was a satisfying my parents because as I was being successful in a sport and I took away the burden of them paying for college, but I found my calling and an athletic I could put my whole life
