Youth Girls Soccer and their motivation: Athletes of all ages and genders experience various behaviors based on performance, level of difficulty, and skill level. This study will examine a youth girls’ soccer team as they learn basic skills and teamwork through practice drills, game play, and tournament competition.
2. Situation
A. The focus of the paper will be 10-year old girls from low, medium, and high skill levels. There are various levels of motivation throughout each player, but as the season progresses, so does motivation within the them.

Related to how weak or strong a player’s conviction is that they can score a goal, defend an opponent, or perform certain drills.
• Performance outcomes refer to personal experiences that individuals have had in the past. Related to whether or not the player experienced a soccer drill, exercise, or tasks. Did they do well or fail. We expect this relationship to be the most influential source of self-efficacy since they are based on personal experiences.
• Vicarious experiences refer to observing other people 's performance and comparing their competence with your own. Related to player’s performances being influence by other players. Could be a teammate or an opponent. Seeing other players who are similar to oneself succeed can raise efficacy beliefs, whereas seeing others fail can lower efficacy beliefs.
• Verbal persuasion refers to the encouragement or discouragement that individuals receive concerning their ability to perform a task. Related to how coaches can verbally influence a player’s ability with praise “great job” or reprimand “You’re not kicking the ball correctly”. Related to physical feedback from their body when the game is about to start or hearing a chant from the opponent. They may have sensations of nervousness, sweaty palms, or a racing heart may lead to a player feeling less capable than if he or she is more relaxed.
4. Evaluation –I believe that in the world of youth sports, Reinforcement theory would be most applicable with the belief that, even if a player has low efficacy, a coach’s praise, recognition of a good job, and positive and negative reinforcement can still influence a player’s behavior towards motivation.
Efficacy Theory has the most prescriptive information, as it provides various elements that can influence a player’s performance in addition to reinforcement from coaches.
5. Synthesis – the big picture
There is a value of using multiple theories in that each theory has something to offer but is also limited. Need theories focus on the individual, but reinforcement theory focuses on the environmental factors that shape or modify
