Kublai Khan, a Mongolian emperor in 1260 AD, was one of the wisest emperors in ancient Chinese history. He is the only ruler in the Khan family to successfully guide an empire over a long period of time. He built a strong government and is a military genius. Kublai is beloved and thought of as a hero to the Mongols and Chinese. He is known for his leadership skills at a young age, successful military strategies, and building one of the largest empires in history which impacted the success brought to the Mongols.

Kublai respected and was cautious of his actions. Kublai cared for mostly Mongolians because the majority of the Chinese people in his empire alienated him. He employed foreigners and Mongolians as advisors and administrators for his top offices. Kublai influenced many Mongolians to reach for power and achieve their standard. Since Kublai Khan was Mongolian, he recognized the importance of Chinese culture and the prolonged traditions and art significant to the people which helped the gap between him and the Chinese people.
Kublai Khan's strong military, government and achievements, such as stabilizing his military and caring for the civilians of his empire and even his maturity as a child helped him to build and organize an empire leading to success.
Kublai experienced ruling over a territory at a young age which influenced his decisions during his reign. His inventions built for war and the speed of his army together defended and fought for his empire. The government, economy and society all are very important to creating a firm empire.
