He will do almost anything to please her and win her over. When Gatsby meet daisy he saw the life she was living and he admires it.“She vanished into her rich house, into her rich, full life, leaving Gatsby — nothing”(159). Daisy has this wonderful life and is a part of the old money social class. As Gatsby leaves the party he envies what Daisy has because he doesn't have a rich home or full life to go to. When Gatsby and Daisy meet at the party they begin to fall in love.“He knew that when he kissed this girl, and forever wed his unutterable visions to her perishable breath”(110). This was the beginning of Gatsby relationship with Daisy. Gatsby at the time wasn't at the same level of Daisy’s social class. Gatsby lies to Nick about his past. “I am the son of some wealthy people in the Middle West — all dead now” (65). Gatsby lies about his past to make it seem like he has the background of old money social class people. Also saying that his parents are dead helps him because then people aren't going to ask too many questions about his parents. Gatsby and Nick talk about the really of the past and Gatsby disagrees with Nick on the past. “Can’t repeat the past?” he cried incredulously. “Why of course you can” (110).
