On August third, fourteen ninety-two Columbus left port from Spain, heading to find the eastern pathway to Asia. Columbus being the world’s best sea navigator at the time believed that if he took the North West trade winds he would land in the West Indies (Historic World Leaders). As taking these trade winds Columbus and his crew got caught up in sea weed and the wind blew them in a different direction overnight. On October tenth, fourteen Ninety-two Columbus’s crew had begun to give up on any sight of land (Encyclopedia of the early modern world). But, Columbus being the brave sailor he was kept the crew with their heads held high. Two days later on October twelfth Columbus and his crew had spotted land. Columbus and his crew believing that they had landed in the West Indies that day named the natives there, “Indians” (Columbus Europe 1451 to 1789). The Indians were very curious of Columbus and his crew first but they managed to become friends.
