Has technology affected how we behave in public negatively? The way people behave in public is greatly influenced by the constant development in new technology. From the way we interact with each other, to the way people exclude themselves from the rest of the world. Technology has even gone as far as to change the way people communicate with one another, which could greatly damage a person’s communication skills. I wholeheartedly believe that the continuing growth in new technology negatively impacts the way people behave in public.
With technology continuing to grow and becoming more advanced, younger generations are developing a different way of speaking to accommodate the new technology but this new way of speaking is leaving our older generations in the dark. People are starting to use more slang words and abbreviations that could be difficult for other people to figure out. The use of new slang words causes people to change the meaning of preexisting words, like the word “basic”. The original meaning of the word would be the forming of an essential foundation or starting point, but people have turned it into an adjective to describe any person, place, or activity involving obvious behavior. People start to bring their technology in public with them from their laptops, tablets, and cell phones to newspapers, books, and magazines. Even though these different technologies do not have a negative impact on the world, they still cause people to act differently in public than how they should normally act. Even when people are using their laptops and cell phones in public causes any environment to become their own personal office. With that being said, the different technologies can cause anyone to forget where they are and convince them to act how they normally would in a private
