Nowadays, there is a dominant worldview paradigm saying that humans should be at the center of all things including other species and nature. In other words, protecting the ecosystem and preserving other species should be done after fulfilling various kinds of anthropocentric needs. On the contrary, the ecocentrism worldview says that all living creatures including humans are being treated as having an equal intrinsic value and not living independently of each other within an integrated ecosystem. To illustrate, it implies that the natural system is composing of many individual parts, such as species including both human and non-human, water, air, land, etc. At the same time, not only we do not have ability to dominate the nature in which we are inhabited, but also we have to work in harmony with other members that are also living in the system. Furthermore, it is also important to believe in a holistic view that any activity of individual parts in the system should not interfere to sustain the wholeness of nature. To demonstrate, such human activities as building oil pipelines both destroying land structure and contaminating underground water body, chemical engineering plants discharging GHGs and toxic emission into the atmosphere, and the excessive exploitation of mine that leads to massive species extinctions, should be totally …show more content…
Just as its name implies, a sustainable way of living allows that meeting the requirement of current generations is not sacrificing that of the future people. In fact, as more and more scientific researches have shown that increasing the global temperature in the currently rapid speed has resulted in a series of severe environmental disasters, such as more extreme weather conditions, drought, flooding and biodiversity lose, which are posing threats for both humans and the entire ecosystem, it needs an urgent action to stop any use of carbon-based resources since the combustion of fossil fuel is considered a major factor responsible for the climate change. More importantly, it is not impossible to transform the world energy pattern from using fossil fuels to renewable resources from wind, solar and biomass if it is not intended to collide with the economic development. In other words, sometimes exploiting and consuming fossil fuels will provide more short-term economic profits than that with the renewable resources. However, in order to leave a livable environment for future generations, environmentalists have the obligation to offer helps in fulfilling the revolutionary green
