How Does Memory Affect My Life

I want to start by talking about the themes in my life and then connect it to why memory affect the the themes in my life. The theme's in my life I would to talk about would be being a provider. There was a time in my life where my dad got laid off. While he did try to find a job the first couple of months he eventually started to not try as hard as each month passes. My mom would struggle in providing for the family. I would have a long conversation with my mom, and she would always tell me if I ever were to start a family I better be able to support and provide for them. So the next theme which is pretty much connected to the one I mention earlier is education. To take school seriously, that having an education makes it easier for us to be a good provider. She would always check up on our homework and ask for grades to see where were at. It was hard to hide our grades from her because if she doesn't get it from us she would go to the school and get it herself. My brothers and I would try to maintain at least a B or higher anything lower than that really my mother would be on us. Taking away video games, time away from friends, and anything that would seem to be important to us. Lastly the most important theme in my life would be having an affectionate mother. let's define long-term memory first. "Long-term memory- accounts for longer storage from a few minutes to decades; unlimited capacity, thought by some to be permanent (pg.376)." Long-term memory has a drastic impact on who we our, where we came from, and I believe it to be the person we turn out to be in the present moment. The memories that have been stored that are decades, or even less than a decade I've used it as a motivation in my life to be better.
