There have also been many women associations who advocate for women equality, along with all the laws signed by Congress to ensure that women are treated same as men. When it comes to equal pay in recent years 2014 to be exact, President Obama signed a law to re-enforce the equal pay between women and men. According to the white house press release’s website, women are typically paid $.79 for every $1 men are being paid. Although the Equal Employment act was signed back in 1964 to make that discrimination based on sex or gender illegal, equal pay unfortunately was still nowhere near as fair. Women work just as hard as men if not more. They are expected to care for their families, obtain a job in order to provide for themselves as well as care of others. Women aren’t given and were never given any privileges for being women; yet they were not making as much as men, at a work place where they may have been preforming the same job, or holding the same position. There may have been somewhat of a justification for this many years ago, when men were primarily the bread winners in the family however times have drastically changed. Men and women are created differently same as any other creature life has ever seen. These differences should be respected and embraced instead of use as an excuse for discrimination. The united states is a model country that the world is watching every day and therefore its citizens should live up to what it is which is an open country, that ensure equality for men and women in all aspects of life. The right to “fight” for rights is a privilege that many other people in other parts of the world are not even able to exercise. Once the realization of true equality kicks in; carrying a gun becomes a way of ensuring equality in the physical power when it comes to self-defense and not equality as a whole. In other words, a right which can be exercised by all qualified citizens thanks to the Stand Your Ground
