Laws protecting the right of women according to CEDAW
Women’s right as workers is written on Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Againts Women, or CEDAW in short. It has an interrelation with the laws and a number of development programs in which act as the normative principles for most of feminists. One of the concerns is the impediments of the feminists on the domination of human rights over the rights for women; the tenet of human rights heavily focuses on the domain of public instead on the private one. Thereby, adjustments on the ideas of human rights for the private domain is indispensable.

Working contract, in the practice, is based on the Penal Code of Indonesia (KUHP) in the Article 1338. This only applies to those who hire housemaids from agencies while Gorontalo has none of such agencies. There were some, but the agencies are now closed due to issues of operational permits. This is due to factors, such women’s knowledge and skills, local customs, socio-economic condition of a society, the perspective of housemaids and publics regarding the position of domestic workers. The sociocultural of housemaids is closely related to the cultures of Gorontalo people. These cultural values, for example Huyula, were being inherited, interpreted, and practised throughout the ever-changing social condition of the community. Huyula embeds the ideology of Pancasila and it represents the life of the society that promotes cooperation, togetherness, and responsibility. However, some people start abandoning this beliefs; Laliyo states that the influence of globalisation on the local wisdom of Gorontalo is the contributing factor of the marginalised culture of Gorontalo . Rahman defines the term “value” as an interpretation to respect on things. In addition, Fraenkel argues that value is the representation of affective aspects of a person. It serves as a complete system in which aspects, such as religious aspects, sociocultural, economy, laws, and aesthetics, are intertwined and are completing each other.
