Summary: The House On Mango Street is about a young girl born into poverty- Esperanza Cordero- who has never had a real steady housing until she came to the house on Mango Street. Esperanza’s life since she moved to mango street has changed drastically, She’s embracing her new life little by little but also experiencing the hardships and the let downs as well. In this coming-of-age tale Esperanza deals with puberty on the up rise and sexual ‘situations’ which amazingly grows her up in a way. Esperanza is building herself – shaping- her to what she shall become when she grows into a grown woman despite her shame in herself and her home.
