The images and words used in this logo enable consumers to understand the meaning; although, improvements can be made to ensure the message is conveyed effectively. The main elements of the logo; a carrot, the world, and text, keep it from being too complicated, however the simplicity almost hinders how well the message is expressed. Without reading into the logo too much, the reader can understand the main idea because of the simple design and layout. “Eating” means to eat fruit and vegetables, which links to the carrot on the side of the logo. “Globally” refers to the actual world, and links to the picture of the Earth at the top.…

A major example that indicates his effective use of logos is when he refers to how newspapers talk about kingpins being captured, how many drugs were seized or how many people died. At first it seems as if he is making a pathos appeal because of the sensitivity of the topics, but then he segues straight back into logic saying “Apparently we’re to take from this the idea that we’re going to ‘win’ the war on drugs…Apple didn’t disappear after Steve Jobs died. Getting ‘Mr. Big’ won’t win the drug war…economist and drug policy expert Jeffrey Miron estimates that we would have a lot less violence without a war on drugs”(43). He’s referring to ending violence and death with a logical solution, which makes the example influential to the audience. The fact that there are so many logical explanations involved, leaving the audience an impression on how knowledgeable Carden is.…

In the first image, it states that “Human trafficking was reported in all 50 states last year.” The use of the number fifty versus any other number makes the audience feel more concerned. Paranoid fiction shows the manipulative nature of reality and how it can be altered by powerful forces. These forces can be a governing body, such as a dictatorship or communist government, or they can be an internal situation, such as a character's mental instability or refusal to accept the harshness of the world he or she is in. Unlike speculative fiction, paranoid fiction is written in a way so as to imply that the story may only be a delusion of the characters, instead of treating it as an alternate history or an in-fiction universe. At its most basic, paranoid fiction refers specifically to works about speculations and possible conspiracies by people in power, told by an unreliable narrator.…

In Greek mythology, Medusa is a Gorgon known for her absolute beauty and renowned delicacy before she offended the goddess Athena and was transformed into a horrific monster that turned anyone that glances at her into stone. Although it is simple, this general background of Medusa is enough to explain the ideals behind the fashion company’s logo.…

In her book, No Logo (2000), Naomi Klein sheds light on the opposing forces of corporate rule, and seeks to understand the conditions, whether cultural or economic, that mark the emergence of an inevitable political movement still in its early stages. She wants her audience to walk away at the end of the book, aware of the “cracks and fissures beneath [the brands’] high-gloss facade (Klein 18).” The opening chapter, “No Space,” educates the reader on how corporate brands came into existence, when they dominated the market and landscapes, and why they are ubiquitous. Klein also describes brands and logos as more than just images companies utilize to identify themselves with; they possess souls, manipulating consumers.…
