But, I have done the Alcoa Christmas Baskets for the past three years. The Alcoa Christmas Baskets is a one night event that is held every year. People gather together to fill baskets with Christmas food essentials for those who are less fortunate or need help. In the past few years, I’ve volunteered with a variety of organizations from National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and Key Club. I have also co-founded a Community Outreach Club at high school. Through the Church I’ve assisted with Vacation Bible School and middle school retreats. One of my favorite memories came from volunteering for the first time with National Spanish Honor Society. Choosing to participate in this program was not a difficult decision, since I knew I wanted to continue practicing my Spanish and volunteer in the community at the same time.…

I was able to volunteer at a local bank that was sponsoring the Lake Park Elementary School for the holiday season. The school has over 300 underprivileged students between the ages of kindergarten and fifth grade. Most of the students at that school only have one meal per day. Along with other volunteers, I packaged bags that contained candy, toys, toiletries, a blanket, and a pair of athletic shoes. The bags were able to provide the children with goods that we often take for granted.…

An activity I got involved with is being a Reggie leader, to be a Reggie leader you need to take the leadership role. A Reggie Leader has made me have leadership skills, for example at the freshmen orientation, I was there helping out the freshmen's giving them a tour around the school. Also on the first day of school where Reggie leaders helped out freshmen to the places they needed to go to in case they got lost for the first time.…

The organization I volunteered for was one I have been a part of since 9th grade and is one that is present at this school, the organization is called Tree Huggers. The group was created by Mrs. Condrey during 2012 with the intentions of starting a recycling program around the school since before the Tree Huggers came into existence the school has not partaken in recycling. Now that the organization is active around the school, the school and its students are more adamant about recycling. The organization generally meets each Thursday after school in Mrs. Condrey’s room and goes around the entire school with recycling bins, black garbage bags, and a big wagon to recycle everything from paper to batteries. The entire process depends upon how much students show up, for example ever since this year began up to twenty kids have been helping out so the process takes about 30 minutes, but I remember times last year where me and my sister would be the only members recycling and as a result it took up to 2 to 3 hours.…
