The author of “The Benefits of Homework” makes the claim that homework can positively affect student performance in school. To convey this claim the author gives many examples on how homework can benefit students. I think the author effectively supports this claim very well in this article. The author starts off with some of the negatives of homework, “ It takes up time and cuts into family life” also “Homework is too repetitive, too hard, and just too much.” I find this very odd for an author to start out with the negatives of homework rather than the positives. To give a counter-argument to the statement the author states “When homework supports a student's learning and does not take too much time to complete, it can have several benefits.”
