Race is a manmade social construct that is set to categories us as humans by our physical characteristics, but also enforce a hierarchy. Thought history each races struggled to obtain or maintain dominance. They did this by a process which I like to call, “Seek and Destroy”. It started out with a group of individuals who invaded a land, killed the indigenous people, and changed the way of life to fit their standards. As years progressed more people came from all around the world to claim their own piece of it. This is visibly represented in land where the cracks are filled with dried vibrant red blood encrypted with “Freedom?” Where there is a constant struggle to obtain life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all men. Where freedom and success is promised, but not guaranteed. This land is better yet known as America.
Before America came into play, Europeans began to pick up an inferior and narcissistic tendency’s where they believe in reason and the power of intellect. This period of time was known as the European Enlightenment. Thus, they created this since of being “civilized”. He was taken to jail. He tried to take it to the Supreme Court stating they violated his right as a United States Citizen by violating the 13th and 14th amendment. The Supreme Court denied his case stating that they didn’t take away freedoms or properties without due process of law. This only made a more restriction on Jim Crow laws. Also in 1982, Susie Phipps sued the State of Louisiana for classifying her as black. She lived her whole life as a white woman, but was died a passport. It turns out that her Birth Certificate stated she was black. She lost her case. This signified that the hypodecendent terminology was a powerful instrument used to distinguish the two
