It is clear that men should wear a tie and suit and women should wear a suit or dress. The rationale behind this strictly enforced dress code is “white coat effect”. The white coat effect is psychological stress which make the patients feel scared and nervous. Hence, increasing the blood pressure of patients. Also, wearing white coat will distance the physicians from patients and hence increasing difficulties on building trust with patients.
