Lady Macbeth is determined to fulfill the prophecy as foretold by the witches; however, she is worried that her husband will be unwilling to commit the act due to his righteous and undeceiving nature. In the first Act, Lady Macbeth views her husband as a potential hindrance for their plot against the King, and that he is indecisive and cowardly. Her worry that her husband will not devote himself to killing Duncan is clear when she states that Macbeth is “Lady Macbeth. too full o’ th’ milk of human kindness” (Shakespeare I.v.15) to commit such an atrocity. She also fears Macbeth’s inability to hide his thoughts, that his face is “Lady Macbeth. a book where men/ May read strange matters” (I.v.68-69), will lead to others discovering their plot.
