In middle school, sports are taken more lightly than high school. In the first year in middle school students can join any sport they want, without being cut. They only have volleyball, track, cross-country, and basketball. In the next year in middle school, the sports get a little more competitive. In this grade, they add softball and football. Students are required to try out for sports now, and if they do not make the cut, they are placed in “instructional” which is kind of like a junior varsity for middle school. In middle school, the seasons are also messed up. Softball is in the fall and volleyball is in the spring. Also in middle school the “JV” team is split up into many different teams. In high school, the sports are super competitive. The only accept few freshman into each sport, and they are almost always on junior varsity. The seasons in high school are normal, and they always match up with every other school. In high school, they offer more sports, including tennis, swimming, cheerleading, soccer, and golf. This gives students a wide range to choose from. It is also nice for someone to try a different sport if the last one didn’t work out. In high school, the seasons also last longer than middle school sports. They typically run for 10 weeks, whereas middle school runs much less than that. As stated above, the high school offers more sports than middle school, longer season, and is
