The source for this loss of interest is to be discovered, and many have made their own analysis. ‘“when people come in happy, you honestly get scolded by your peers, but when you say you hate it here, people empathise for you, we want to be miserable together, which is not the culture we should be advocating here, I want group happiness.” says newly elected senior class president, Sahara Williams, who also shares the same concern we all do regarding the loss of school spirit.
Ms. Ifill, a substitute teacher as well as rhinebeck graduate, holds similar ideas surrounding rhinebeck student “apathy epidemic”. “I just think students believe going to a small school is a burden, but in actuality, gives them much more freedom. Many things are possible, speaking out is very possible and so is organizing events”
Ifill brings up a key point, that we, as rhinebeck students, though numbered , have the ability to influence many ideas and promote student interest, it's just that no one has to the effort to pursue this actions. Williams, along with VP Reagan Schweppe have taken notice of this issue, and in future efforts, plan to create a second pep rally, prior to winter

Rizga provides a different point of view when looking at education. She shows how almost everything Gatto stated was inaccurate as she spent a year inside of San Francisco’s most challenging/failing school Mission High School. She experienced the truth of the schooling system through first hand experiences as well as reporting the struggles and challenges a senior student named Maria faced. Rizga’s article refutes Gatto’s statement that “It is in the interest of the complex management, economic or political,to dumb people down, to demoralize them to divide them from one another, and to discard them if they don’t conform. ”(Gatto 97) Rizga refutes Gatto’s statement because she shows how Mission High School was inappropriately misjudged by a flawed system.…

Lone Jack High School (LJHS), the place that I have spent the past five years, can feel that way with its prison gray walls and blockish structure. However, over time, I have grown content with these features.…

    1) Schools create different purpose in today’s society as well as creating a unique role in a democratic society. Depending on which person you were to talk to school could be a day care center, a place to have social interactions, a place to hang out with your friends, a prison, and last but not least a place to gain knowledge. Where do I fit into this equation, I have used school as a day center, I have witnessed school being a place for social interactions, and lastly I have returned to school to regain knowledge that I have so desired. To me, in order to be an educator that strives to create the best possible atmosphere for the students they must take into account what the different views of school are and where they come from. If a teacher…
