Constantly, I am involved in extracurricular activities like student council, National Honors Society, club soccer teams, and student government. I hold the positions of President of the Class of 2017 and Treasurer of the Salt Fork Student Council. I have participated in student council for three years, National Honors Society for two years, and student government for four years. I have given back to my community in ways like volunteering at the Festival of Trees and The Lighting of the Christmas Tree. I student-write for the News Gazette in Champaign, IL every week about what is going on at Salt Fork High School; however, I learned the true importance of service over the summer when I went to Puerto Rico on a mission trip with my church holding a vacation bible school at a local church there. I was humbled to be surrounded by all of the children and a less fortunate environment. Additionally, over the summer, I lost a fellow senior and friend when he lost his battle with leukemia. As the president of his class, I felt obliged to help and support his closer friends and family. Some of my classmates and I held his memorial dinner. Although the tragedy deeply saddened me, I was extremely blessed to be able to do this for his family. This moment taught me the true value of service and community involvement, and it has inspired me to help people in my future as a physical therapist. In my
