Zach Verlander was supposed to be the recorder for this lab, but since he dropped the class I took his place as the recorder for the experiment. Greg was in charge of the backside of the heat exchanger apparatus, while Kyle controlled the front side of the apparatus. Greg monitored the pressure gauge of the steam inlet and measured the steam inlet temperature off of the temperature gauge. Kyle used the thermocouple meter to read the pressure of the steam outlet, water inlet, and water outlet streams in the heat exchanger.…

Etowah’s revitalization and development initiative began as a result of various occurrences. First, Louisville & Nashville Railroad Co. (L&N), the reason Etowah was created, decided to pull up its stakes in 1974 and leave Etowah (Lambe, 2008, p. 55). This move by L&N resulted in the closure of many railroad jobs, leaving many men to find work elsewhere. This is when Etowah made the decision to bring the manufacturing industries into town, which would ultimately create more jobs for residents. Apparel and textile industries in Etowah would be successful for a while until Etowah’s largest manufacturing employer, Beaunit Fibers, left town leaving 1,000 local residents without jobs (Lambe, 2008, p. 55).…

The unit number 2 of the nuclear power plant in Three Mile Island, located near the city of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, suffered a serious accident on March 28, 1979. A small leak in the steam generator triggered the worst nuclear accident in history of the USA, and the second worst in the history of nuclear power. The causes must be attributed to the design of that plant that made it extremely unsafe. The loss of coolant caused an increase in core temperature that eventually ended up melting fuel and this leading to the spread of a radioactive material that formed a hazardous hydrogen bubble that threatened to cause an explosion contaminating the building and perhaps cause a breach of containment.…

In 2015, Victoria, BC saw an increase in drug overdoses throughout the city including one death occurring in Esquimalt (news source). Drug-related fatalities are preventable if the population has access to services that would minimize the risk of an overdose. Through an assessment of the community of Esquimalt, I am proposing that there is a need to build a safe injection site to prevent accidental overdoses, as well as provide social services for detoxification and rehabilitation programs. It is important to note that Victoria and Esquimalt are not distinguished communities when studies are done. Therefore, the extrapolation of exact drug use statistics for Esquimalt is not available.…
