Many of these agencies still exist today, keeping the U.S.’s economy stable and assisting the American people. One of these agencies is the Social Security Administration which today allows people to receive unemployment insurance and old age pension. During Roosevelt’s presidency, this agency was known under a different name as the “Social Security Board” and served a very similar purpose to its successor today (Yalzadeh). Another highly important alphabet soup agency that is still present today is the Federal Housing Administration. This agency makes it easier for American citizens to own their own property by granting anyone the ability to receive loans from their bank. During Roosevelt’s time, this aided in creating jobs for construction workers and allowed the United States to be a country of home owners as opposed to one of renters.
